Using Offline Mode
Security sites don't always have reliable mobile signal. The Attlock Guard app is designed to keep working even when your connection drops, so you can continue your duties without interruption.
How Offline Mode Activates

You don't need to turn on offline mode manually. The app detects signal loss automatically and switches to offline mode within seconds.
- An orange banner appears at the top of the screen reading "You're offline — data will sync when connected"
- The banner stays visible until your connection is restored
- All actions you take while offline are saved locally on your device
Features That Work Offline
Most core guard duties remain fully functional without a connection:
Checkpoint Scanning
- Scan NFC tags and QR codes as normal
- Each scan is timestamped and stored on your device
- Scans upload automatically once you're back online
Incident Report Drafts
- Create and save incident reports including text descriptions and photos
- Reports are queued locally and submitted when the connection returns
- You'll see a Pending Upload badge on queued reports
Clock-In and Clock-Out
- Clock-in and clock-out actions are added to a local queue
- The app records the exact time you tapped, not the time data syncs
- Your supervisor will see the correct timestamps once the sync completes
Patrol Progress
- Continue walking your patrol route and scanning checkpoints
- Patrol completion data is stored locally and uploaded later
- Missed checkpoints are still tracked accurately
Cached Data
- Your current shift details, site information, and patrol routes are cached
- Contact numbers for your supervisor and team remain accessible
- Recent schedule data is available for reference
Features That Require a Connection
Some features need an active internet connection to work:
- Sending or receiving messages
- Receiving new shift offers or schedule changes
- Viewing updated site documents or instructions
- Submitting panic alerts (the app will retry automatically)
- Loading new patrol routes not previously cached
How Auto-Sync Works
When your connection returns:
- The orange banner disappears
- The app begins uploading queued data in the background
- A brief "Syncing..." indicator appears
- Once complete, all your offline activity is reflected in the system
- Your supervisor and admin can see all timestamped actions
Data syncs in order — oldest actions first — so your timeline remains accurate.
Tips for Low-Connectivity Areas
- Open the app before entering dead zones so shift and patrol data is cached
- Don't force-close the app while offline — this preserves your queued data
- Check for the sync confirmation when you regain signal to ensure everything uploaded
- If you're consistently in a low-signal area, ask your supervisor whether a site Wi-Fi network is available
- Keep your phone battery above 20% — offline processing uses slightly more power
Troubleshooting
- If the offline banner doesn't clear after you've regained signal, try toggling airplane mode on and off
- If queued data hasn't synced after several minutes, close and reopen the app
- Contact your supervisor if critical incident reports appear stuck in the queue
