Using GPS Navigation to Your Assigned Site

When you're assigned to a new site or working at an unfamiliar location, Attlock makes it easy to get there. The app includes built-in navigation that launches directions directly from your shift details — so you're never hunting for an address or guessing which entrance to use. This guide explains how to use the navigation feature and how to prepare for a smooth arrival.

Why Navigation Matters for Guards

Arriving at the right location, at the right entrance, on time is more important for security guards than most jobs:

• Late arrivals leave a site uncovered — the outgoing guard can't leave until you're there.
• Wrong entrances cause delays — large sites may have multiple gates, and the guard entrance is often different from the main visitor entrance.
• Unfamiliar sites take longer to navigate — knowing the layout before you arrive helps you clock in and get to your post faster.

Accessing Navigation from Your Shift

The fastest way to get directions to your site is directly from your scheduled shift:

1. Tap the Schedule tab at the bottom of the screen.
2. Find your upcoming shift and tap it to open the shift details.
3. Scroll to the Site section — you'll see the site name and address.
4. Tap the Get Directions button (or the address itself).
5. Choose your preferred navigation app when prompted:
   • Google Maps
   • Apple Maps
   • Waze
   • Or your device's default maps app.
6. The destination is pre-filled with the site address. Tap Start to begin navigation.

Accessing Navigation from Site Info

You can also get directions from the Site Info screen, which is useful if you want to check the location before your shift day:

1. Tap More > Site Info (or Employer Details).
2. Select the site you're assigned to.
3. Tap the address or the Map button.
4. Choose your navigation app and start directions.

The Site Info screen also shows:

• Site photos — so you can recognize the building when you arrive.
• Parking instructions — where guards are permitted to park.
• Entry instructions — which entrance to use and any access codes.
• On-site contacts — who to call if you have trouble getting in.

Understanding the Site Map

For larger or more complex sites, Attlock may include an interactive site map showing:

• Checkpoint locations — where you'll need to scan during patrols.
• Patrol routes — the path you're expected to follow.
• Key areas — control rooms, emergency exits, assembly points.
• Geofence boundary — the area you need to be within to clock in.

Access the site map from More > Site Info > Map tab. Reviewing it before your first shift at a new site is strongly recommended.

Arriving at the Site

Finding the Right Entrance

Many sites have separate entrances for guards, visitors, and deliveries. The guard entrance is often at the rear or side of the building. Check your Post Orders or the Site Info screen for specific entry instructions.

Parking

Guard parking is usually designated separately from visitor or staff parking. Check Site Info for parking instructions. Never park in a way that blocks emergency vehicle access.

Clocking In

Once you arrive, you'll need to be within the site's geofence to clock in. If you're having trouble clocking in, make sure:

• You're at the correct site address.
• Your location permissions are enabled (Settings > Attlock > Location > Always or While Using App).
• You're at the correct entrance — some large sites have geofences that only cover specific zones.

Planning Your Journey

For a smooth arrival, especially at a new site:

• Check the address the day before — don't rely on navigation alone for a first visit. Look at the site on a map to understand the surrounding area.
• Allow extra travel time — aim to arrive 10–15 minutes early, especially for your first shift at a new location.
• Check for parking restrictions — some urban sites have limited or paid parking nearby.
• Save the site contact number — if you're running late or can't find the entrance, you need to be able to call ahead quickly.
• Check traffic conditions — use your navigation app's live traffic feature to anticipate delays.

If You Get Lost or Can't Find the Site

1. Pull over safely before checking your phone.
2. Re-open the Attlock app and check the Site Info screen for the full address and any entry notes.
3. Call the on-site contact listed in Site Info.
4. Message your supervisor via Attlock to let them know you're delayed.
5. Do not clock in until you are physically at the correct location — clocking in remotely is a policy violation.

Tips

• Save site addresses to your contacts for sites you visit regularly — it's faster than opening the app every time.
• Check Site Info before every new assignment — entry instructions, parking, and contacts are all there.
• Review the site map for new locations — knowing the layout before you arrive makes your first patrol much smoother.
• Enable location permissions — navigation and clock-in both require location access to work correctly.
• Charge your phone before long commutes — GPS navigation drains battery faster than normal use.
