Requesting Time Off

Updated September 24, 2026

Requesting Time Off

Need a day off? The Time Off feature in Attlock lets you submit leave requests directly from your phone — for vacation, sick days, personal time, and more. Your supervisor reviews and approves or denies each request.

Accessing Time Off

Attlock schedule workspace showing upcoming shifts and operational assignments.
Scheduling: review and manage the assigned work before starting the shift.
  1. Tap the More tab at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap "Time Off" (Calendar icon, orange).
  3. The Time Off screen loads with the subtitle: "Manage your leave requests."

Viewing Your Requests

All your time-off requests are listed in chronological order. Each request card shows:

  • Leave type badge — the type of leave requested (color-coded for easy identification):
    • Vacation
    • Sick Leave
    • Personal
    • Jury Duty
    • Bereavement
    • Unpaid Leave
  • Status badge:
    • PENDING (yellow) — submitted and waiting for supervisor review.
    • APPROVED (green) — your request has been approved. You're good to go.
    • DENIED (red) — your request was not approved.
  • Date range — the start and end dates (e.g., "Jan 15, 2024 — Jan 17, 2024").
  • Site (Map Pin icon) — the site you're assigned to during this period.
  • Reason — your stated reason, shown in quotes.
  • If denied, a red box appears showing the denial reason from your supervisor.
  • "Cancel Request" button — available only for pending requests.

Submitting a New Request

  1. Tap the "+" button (green) in the bottom right corner.
  2. Fill in the request form:
    • Site — select which of your assigned sites this applies to.
    • Start Date — the first day you need off.
    • End Date — the last day you need off. For a single day, set both dates to the same day.
    • Leave Type — scroll through the available options:
      • Vacation — planned personal time off.
      • Sick Leave — illness or medical appointments.
      • Personal — personal matters that don't fall into other categories.
      • Jury Duty — court-required service.
      • Bereavement — time off due to a death in the family.
      • Unpaid Leave — time off without pay.
    • Reason (required) — explain why you're requesting time off. Be clear and specific — this helps your supervisor make a decision. For example: "Annual family vacation, booked travel" or "Dental surgery, need recovery time."
  3. Review your request for accuracy.
  4. Tap "Submit Request."
  5. Your request is sent to your supervisor and appears in your list with a PENDING status.

Cancelling a Pending Request

If your plans change and you no longer need the time off:

  1. Find the pending request in your list.
  2. Tap "Cancel Request."
  3. Confirm the cancellation when prompted.
  4. The request is removed from the queue and your supervisor is notified.
Note: You can only cancel requests that are still in PENDING status. Once a request is approved or denied, you'll need to contact your supervisor to make changes.

What Happens After You Submit

  1. Your supervisor receives a notification about your request.
  2. They review your reason, the dates, and staffing coverage for that period.
  3. They either approve or deny the request.
  4. You receive a notification with the decision.
  5. If approved, the time off appears on your schedule and you won't be assigned shifts during that period.
  6. If denied, the reason is shown on the request card so you understand why.

Tips

  • Submit early — give your supervisor as much advance notice as possible. Last-minute requests are harder to approve because coverage needs to be arranged.
  • Be specific with your reason — a clear explanation helps your supervisor understand the importance and approve faster. "Vacation" is fine, but "Pre-planned family trip, flights booked" gives more context.
  • Check your status regularly — pending requests need supervisor approval. Don't assume silence means approval.
  • Plan around peak times — requests during holidays, events, or busy seasons may be harder to get approved. Submit these as early as possible.
  • Use the right leave type — selecting the correct category helps your company track leave balances and comply with labor regulations.
  • Don't wait until the last minute for sick leave — if you wake up sick, submit the request as soon as you can so your supervisor can arrange coverage quickly.
  • If denied, talk to your supervisor — there may be alternative dates that work better for staffing, or you might be able to split the time off.
