Creating and Publishing Schedules in Attforce

Attforce helps managers plan coverage across locations, assign employees to shifts, and keep teams informed when schedules change.

Before You Build a Schedule

Before creating a schedule, make sure your setup includes:

  • Active locations.
  • Employees and roles.
  • Availability or time-off notes.
  • Work instructions for each location if they are needed.
  • Any coverage requirements for the week.

Create a Shift

A shift should include the details an employee needs to show up prepared:

FieldWhy it matters-----------------------LocationTells the employee where to report.Date and timeSets the start and end of the shift.RoleHelps managers assign the right person.Assigned employeeShows who is responsible for the shift.InstructionsGives context for what needs to be done.TasksLists work that should be completed during the shift.

Use Open Shifts

Open shifts are useful when a manager knows coverage is needed but has not assigned an employee yet.

Use open shifts for:

  • Extra coverage.
  • Last-minute callouts.
  • Seasonal or event work.
  • Shifts where employees can request assignment.

Once an employee is assigned, review the schedule again before publishing.

Publish the Schedule

Publishing makes the schedule visible to the team. After publishing, employees can see their upcoming shifts and managers can monitor coverage.

Before publishing, check for:

  • Empty shifts that still need coverage.
  • Employees scheduled outside their availability.
  • Overlapping shifts.
  • Missing location details.
  • Missing instructions for important work.

Managing Schedule Changes

Schedules change. Attforce helps teams keep changes visible so everyone works from the same plan.

Common updates include:

  • Reassigning a shift.
  • Changing a start or end time.
  • Adding extra coverage.
  • Approving a shift swap.
  • Responding to a time-off request.

When changes affect an employee, make sure the updated schedule is published and communicated clearly.
