Checking In and Out Equipment

Checking In and Out Equipment

As a guard, you may be assigned equipment for your shift — radios, flashlights, body cameras, keys, and other gear. The Equipment screen in Attlock tracks what's assigned to you and lets you check items back in when your shift is over.

Why Equipment Tracking Matters

  • Accountability — you know exactly what's assigned to you and can confirm returns.
  • Condition tracking — documenting equipment condition at check-in protects you from being blamed for pre-existing damage.
  • Inventory management — your company can track where every piece of equipment is at all times.

Accessing the Equipment Screen

  1. Tap the More tab at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap "Equipment" (Package icon, teal).
  3. The My Equipment screen loads, showing everything currently assigned to you.

Viewing Your Assigned Equipment

Each assigned item is displayed as a card with:

  • Equipment name (e.g., "Flashlight," "Radio," "Body Camera," "Key Set").
  • Type and serial number (e.g., "Electronic — SN12345").
  • Condition badge:
    • New (green) — item is brand new.
    • Good (green) — item is in working condition with no issues.
    • Fair (orange) — item is functional but showing signs of wear.
    • Poor (red) — item has significant wear or damage.
  • Assigned date — when the item was checked out to you.
  • "Check In" button (teal) — tap this when you're ready to return the item.

Checking In Equipment

At the end of your shift (or whenever you need to return an item):

  1. Tap the "Check In" button on the item you're returning.
  2. The check-in modal opens.
  3. Select the current condition of the item:
    • New — item is still in new condition.
    • Good — item works fine, no issues.
    • Fair — item is functional but has some wear.
    • Poor — item has notable damage or issues.

Each condition has a distinct color so you can see at a glance what state equipment is in.

  1. Add notes (optional) in the "Any damage or notes..." text area. If you noticed anything wrong during your shift, describe it here (e.g., "Radio antenna is bent," "Flashlight lens has small crack").
  2. Tap "Confirm Check In" to complete the return.
  3. The item is removed from your assigned list and returned to inventory.

Scanning for Checkout

To check out new equipment, tap the camera floating button in the bottom right corner labeled "Scan to Checkout."

Note: Barcode scanning for equipment checkout is coming in a future update. For now, contact your supervisor to have equipment assigned to you through the admin system.

When No Equipment Is Assigned

If you don't have any equipment checked out, you'll see:

  • A grayed-out Package icon.
  • The message: "No Equipment Assigned — Equipment assigned to you will appear here."

If you expected to have equipment for your shift, check with your supervisor before starting.

Tips

  • Check in all equipment before clocking out — return every item at the end of your shift. Unreturned equipment creates accountability gaps.
  • Report damage honestly and immediately — if something broke or got damaged during your shift, note it during check-in. This protects you and helps your company maintain equipment properly.
  • Test equipment at the start of your shift — turn on radios, test flashlights, verify body cameras are recording. If something isn't working, report it right away rather than discovering the issue during an incident.
  • Keep equipment safe and secure — you're responsible for assigned items during your shift. Don't leave radios or keys unattended.
  • Know your serial numbers — in case of a dispute, knowing which specific items were assigned to you (visible on each equipment card) provides clear documentation.
  • Check the condition badge when equipment is assigned — if an item arrives in "Fair" or "Poor" condition, document it so you're not held responsible for pre-existing issues.
